a small welcoming party of the baby......organised by friends/collegues. They bring gifts of all sort, that will be used soon just after junior 's birth.

I'm just adding to what Juvine said. Its a sort of welcoming party. Its done before the baby is born. And yes Juvine you are right, its organised by friends, colleagues and even family members. Its a way to help prepare the mother to be with the purchasing of some of things she might need.

Like what my colleagues has said, it is kinda of a welcoming part for the baby and a mother-preparing function! One thing that my colleague missed is that........1) only females are allowed to attend baby-showers, just like kitchen parties...when preparing something for someone who is about to get married.....about to start a kitchen! 2) Only kiddies-staffs (necessities) are bought and given as presents, just like kitchen-related gifts are given at kitchen parties.
